People Should Live Outside Society To Be Truly Free (Huckleberry Finn) (Book Review Sample) Content: People should live outside society to be truly free (huckleberry Finn)Huckleberry Finn talks about one has to leave outside the society to be truly freeĆ he emphasis that for one to be truly free from the laws governing the society one has to experience life outside the society. In the book by Huckleberry when Huck was living with the widow he was constantly being taught how to be civilized which was not his nature or he was not comfortable with, this drives him to run a way and try to go back to his normal live. He is enslaved by simply living under the roof of the widow and he has to live with her conditions. In regard to not living by his standards he adopts a new identity that qualifies him to live in the society and being accepted by the society which makes the rules. In the end he decides to run away from the society in search of freedom from all the restraints that the society tries to enforce on him.The same can also be seen in the character by Jim, althoug h Jim was living with Miss Watson he was still a slave. The fact that Miss Watson didnt harm Jim or never offended him did not make him any better than Huck. He was constantly trying to please Miss Watson but when he finally ran away he found Huck and together they found out what it really means to be free. Both Huck and Jim did not know the importance of having friends or the importance of having a friendship that was not tied to rules and conditions until they sought their freedom, this is because Society denied them the freedom of having friends or living by their own rules.Societys values and laws can be in conflict with higher moral valuesThe difference between what Society values and what an individual values can best be elaborated in the book Huckleberry Finn. Huck was not raised to the acceptable ways of a civilised society. He basically questions everything about life. When Huck was living with the Widow he questioned the biblical teachings that there was hell. He even prof fered to go to hell and experience what hell was like rather than stay with the widow. Society values hell as somewhere bad somewhere where no one wants to go but Hack believes that that place can be better than staying with the widow, Huck questions everything which makes his chooses to be unacceptable to the society. Another scene from the book show that when Pap returns to get custody of Huck the Judge rules in his favour regardless of his evil ways which proves just how society and its laws are mean. After this episode Huck pretends that he is dead and the society becomes more engrossed in finding his body than convicting his corrupt dayFreedom means different things to different people. When Huck met Jim both of them were tr...
